It happened on the couch. The same couch Simon had spent the evening on, laughing with Kaylee. He'd come out of his cabin to pick up the book he'd left there and Mal was hovering. Their eyes had met, and Simon opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

Mal was graceful, and Simon was twitchy. Simon didn't want to admit that he hadn't done anything like this before, but Mal guessed when Simon screamed at the penetration. Simon was both relieved and disappointed when Mal eased out and left. He pressed his face into the cushions and struggled to pull his pants back up.

"None of that now." Mal was back and his voice was quiet and calm, and his hands were gentle as they slid something cool and slippery inside.

So then it happened. Slow and more than a little painful, but eventually it got better, and then it got good, and by the time Mal finished, Simon was done too. 

They sat together afterward, and spoke about nothing in particular. Simon didn't sit up straight, because it hurt, but that was fine, because he could lean on Mal.
